CVA also works with children who have come into conflict with the law. We believe that punishment alone does not heal children need re-education, rehabilitation, and reformation to find a better path forward. We advocate for child-sensitive justice systems and work to support the social reintegration of these children into their families and communities.
Empowering Children Through Education
We believe that knowledge is power and that power belongs to every child. CVA works to ensure that children have access to education, understand their rights, and are equipped to speak up in matters that concern them. When children understand their rights and develop confidence to express themselves, they are better protected from abuse, better prepared for the future, and more capable of influencing the decisions that shape their world. We run educational programs, workshops, and training sessions that help children speak up, think critically, and participate meaningfully in their communities.
Protection of Children in Crisis
No child should suffer in silence. CVA is committed to the care, well-being, survival, and development of all children with a particular focus on those facing extreme hardship caused by: Armed conflict and war Internal displacement Climate change and environmental disasters Environmental pollution and degradation Abuse, exploitation, and neglect We work directly in affected communities to provide immediate support and long-term solutions, ensuring children are not forgotten or left behind in times of crisis.
Advocacy and Awareness Raising
CVA advocates loudly and clearly for children’s rights. We work to ensure that governments, institutions, communities, and families understand and fulfil their obligations to protect children. We raise awareness about the realities children face from armed conflict to climate impacts and hold stakeholders accountable to their duties under national and international laws, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As a pressure group and advocacy organization, we speak on behalf of children in public forums, policy spaces, and community meetings to ensure their rights are not just words on paper, but a lived reality.
Support for Internally Displaced Children (IDCs)
Children who have been forced to flee their homes because of conflict or disaster face some of the most difficult conditions. CVA takes deliberate steps to ensure that Internally Displaced Children (IDCs) receive: Safe shelter and protection Access to education and learning materials Psychological support and counselling Health and nutritional assistance Reunification with their families where possible We are committed to the principle that no child should be homeless, uneducated, unprotected, or malnourished no matter the circumstances.
Counselling, Vocational Skills and Livelihood Training
CVA provides counselling and practical skills training for children and young people in need. We understand that many children especially those from disadvantaged or crisis-affected backgrounds need more than just emotional support. They need tools to build a future. Through our training programs, young people gain skills in various trades and occupations that can help them become self-supporting, productive members of society. We work with trained counsellors and skilled professionals to deliver these services with dignity and care.
Health and Well-Being for Vulnerable Children
CVA is committed to working towards the provision of basic health care for children and young people who are victims of climate change-related disasters, pollution, environmental degradation, conflict, and war. We pay special attention to children living with physical and mental disabilities, as well as those suffering from serious illnesses who may be missed by mainstream health systems. We believe every child has the right to a healthy body and a healthy mind.
